Johan has varied consumer marketing experience with specialization in customer loyalty management and Database Marketing. He has been involved in various industries ranging from oil and gas, banking, telco and airlines, to name a few.
 

He started his career with Shell Malaysia in various capacities including development and launch of new products to the market. One of his specific involvements in Shell was in the set up and launch of Bonuslink, the first multi party loyalty programme and the V-Power Fuel Launch in Malaysia other than managing the Payment Acceptance at Shell.

He then moved on to set up RealRewards, another multiparty loyalty programme, adding a touch of vibrancy and competition to the industry which was still nascent, at that point in time, in Malaysia. He was involved in implementing the programme with Telekom Malaysia, Petronas and a host of large companies. He was the CEO of Electronic Commerce Technology Sdn. Bhd. , the Programme Manager of RealRewards

He then moved to banking and spent three years with Maybank, the largest bank in Malaysia. He grew the cards business from 3rd to be the largest in the country in terms of card numbers, spend and receivables with a strong branding and value proposition.Whilst in Maybank, he was instrumental in purchasing the AMEX franchise in Malaysia and establishing the TreatsPoints programme, amongst others.

He joined AirAsia Group and set up the Financial Services and Loyalty department to grow the non flight ancillary business for AirAsia subsidiaries in the region. He established the payment network , doubled the insurance business , built the online store - airasiamegastore.com, the online entertainment ticket store – airasiaredtix.com and the BIG loyalty programme – a first for a low cost airline coupled with a prepaid functionality. He was the Group Head for Financial Services and Loyalty as well as CEO of the BIG Loyalty Programme

He enjoys new and "unexpected" challenges – something that one can easily associate to a fast growing and fun environment. Currently, he has set up SimplifiJohan a company providing Marketing Services advisory and outsourcing for companies with special focus on Customer Engagement ,Acquisition and Retention using Loyalty,CRM and Social Media.

He has built a reputation as a Loyalty Programme expert in the region and a revenue builder by his understanding of customer habits and his exposure to start ups. He continues to push boundaries and truly believes that the sky is the limit.

He holds an Actuarial Science degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
